Together with Mayor Benitez were Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino “Jerry” Acuzar, DHSUD Regional 6 Director Eva Marfil, and Councilor Vladimir Gonzalez, committee chair on urban poor, housing and resettlement.

Before the groundbreaking, the City of Victorias, Negros Occidental and DHSUD have also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of its separate housing project that substantiated the “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Filipino: Zero ISF by 2028.”

The ceremony and signing were witnessed by Bacolod City councilors and officials from Victorias City, DHSUD, Pag-IBIG fund, National Housing Authority, Social Housing Finance Corporation, City Planning and Development office, City Engineer’s office, and City Mayor’s office.

The Yuhum village in Bacolod City and the newly-signed MOU for Victorias City housing project signify the many settlement programs of DHSUD to realize its socio-economic objective of zero informal settler families by 2028, which targets to build one million housing units per year or a total of six million housing units for six years.
